About us

Our company

In addition to our standard range, we also design and manufacture high-pressure steel cylinders and containers tailored to your specific requirements.

In addition to our standard range, we also develop and produce high-pressure steel cylinders and containers for your individual requirements.

We are happy to complete the produced cylinders with components such as valves, siphons, caps, cages, and more.

eurocylinder systems AG, based in Apolda, Thuringia, has a long history of manufacturing fire extinguishing technology since the 1930s. The company has been producing high-pressure steel cylinders for various applications since 1957. After a comprehensive reorganisation in the 1990s, the company received DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 certification in 1993. Since 2024, it has been part of Cylinders Holding a.s. and is one of the top European manufacturers of high-pressure steel cylinders, with an annual capacity of over 500,000 cylinders on two production lines.

Cylinders Holding, a Czech company with over 120 years of experience, is the world's largest manufacturer of pressure cylinders and holds the largest share of the European steel cylinder market. The company’s products are exported across all continents, and in select regions, Cylinders Holding is expanding both its market position and new production facilities. Under its current ownership, the company has significantly advanced, developing specialized technologies for producing cylinders for hydrogen, industrial gases, and non-standard hydraulic pressure systems. In 2008, Cylinders Holding introduced a unique reverse extrusion technology for manufacturing cylinders up to 406 mm in diameter, setting a global benchmark in innovation and development.

27.06.2024 - Cylinders Holding

Cylinders Holding a.s., the world's largest manufacturer of high-pressure steel cylinders and pressurised gas storage and transport solutions, has completed the acquisition of 100 % of the shares in eurocylinders systems AG (ECS), a German cylinder manufacturer. The seller of the ECS shares is the German industrial group Serafin, based in Munich. The buyers are Cylinders Holding and Vítkovice Milmet. The parties agree that the terms of the transaction will be kept confidential.

Jan Světlík, CEO of Cylinders Holding, said: "Our aim was to acquire a good, stable company with growth potential not only in the strong German market, which is eight times larger than the Czech market. At the same time, the company will become an important distribution centre for the Group's entire product portfolio."

Michael Dathe, CEO of ECS, says: "The strategic partnership between two companies that have known each other for many years and whose product ranges complement each other has various advantages and potential. We look forward to working with you in the future."

Cylinders Holding is interested in the long-term development of ECS and will work closely with the current ECS Director Dathe and his team to realise the planned strategy.

The arrival of the new owner will give ECS access to other technologies developed at Cylinders Holding, such as for the transport and storage of hydrogen. ECS will continue to operate as a Cylinders Holding Group company with its own brand and production and will continue its growth as a specialist in high-pressure steel cylinders.

Our hydrogen project

(Green) hydrogen is an important energy source for creating a sustainable future and realising the energy transition in the form of renewable energies. However, this also requires regenerative, CO2-optimised hydrogen infrastructure concepts.

The research and development project represents an essential contribution to decentralised, non-transmission-bound hydrogen supply, in that the products to be developed pursue an innovative approach to the transport and storage of hydrogen.

The aim of the project is therefore to develop a material-minimised high-pressure steel container for the storage and transport of hydrogen. Based on current standard pressure levels of 300 bar, a container with the same wall thickness and material usage for 500 bar operating pressure is to be created. Compared to existing products on the market, the product to be developed can increase the pressure (and thus the amount of hydrogen stored) by up to 60% or reduce the wall thickness and minimise the material by 30%-50%.

Our photovoltaic system

We have been building a photovoltaic system (PV system) on our roofs since 2023. This construction is a significant step towards sustainability and environmental protection. Modern PV modules have a service life of 25 to 30 years or longer. This means that our system will supply environmentally friendly energy for decades to come. At the end of their life, the modules can be recycled, with materials such as glass, aluminium and semiconductors being reused. This minimises the environmental footprint and contributes to the circular economy.

With an output of 1,608 kWp and an annual yield of 1,045 kWh/kWp, we actively contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and utilise the power of the sun to cover our energy needs. The ecological and economic benefits of this technology are considerable and we are proud to be making a contribution to the energy transition.
